But is it art? Adult film producer/director and performer Nica Noelle discusses this question and more with me in today’s episode. I interviewed Noelle outside Los Angeles after watching her film a scene for the movie Julia Ann Loves Girls, starring Julia Ann and Phoenix Marie.

Noelle, who has been called “the most important erotic writer and director of this era,” has won numerous awards for her work. Although best-known for directing and performing in lesbian adult films, she won the 2010 Good For Her Feminist Porn award for Sexiest Straight Movie for The Deviant. She wrote and directed The Deviant for Sweet Sinner, a production company she founded as the “brother” studio to the all-lesbian Sweetheart Video for Mile High Media. In 2012, Noelle left Mile High to found Girl Candy and Hard Candy films in a partnership with the Adult Entertainment Broadcast Network.
